Cascade Warbirds Squadron #2
The CO called the meeting to order at 1010 hours. There were 31 members and guests in attendance.
1 - Announcements of general interest were made, to include the suggestion that members buy lunch today for a vet in their midst.
2 - New members and guests were introduced. Of special note were Don Gordon, WWII P-38, P-39, and P-51 pilot and Jim Miller, WWII B-17 tail gunner and POW. Gordon and Miller were accorded Honorary membership in the Squadron.
3 - Paul Youman mentioned he was looking for a donation of a warbird ride for an upcoming auction he's involved with at Boeing.
4 - Don Gordon gave a short talk on his time flying at Wheeler AAF and from Iwo Jima.
5 - Fred updated all on the need to pay 2006 dues, on the availability of 2006 Reno race tickets, and the availability of squadron regalia.
6 - Dave mentioned a list of local warbirds for sale.
7 - Dave mentioned that NWOC 2006 would be held in Orlando.
8 - Ed's Safety Minute was on scud running and the dangers inherent therein - this in response to the recent death of Art Vance.
9 - This being the year for election of officers, the Nominating Committee presented their slate for consideration: CO - Desmon, XO- Kinchen, Ops O - Barry, FO/Adjutant - Smyth, At-Large - Williams, Boardmembers Almstead, Anders (Greg), Caruso, High, Jackson, Owens, Renquist, Rombauer, Sherman, and Teeters. Upon motion by Smyth and second by Sherman, the slate was approved with no votes against.
10 - Thanks were given to the outgoing officers: Morley, Granley, Hill, Richardson (Rod).
11 - Fred mentioned the details of the upcoming annual Christmas dinner party.
12 - More announcements of general interest were made.
13 - Dave showed a WWII aviation training film on the P-47.
14 - The board meeting scheduled for approximately 1300 is open to all members.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 11:45 and members broke for lunch.
