The CO called the
meeting to order at 10:15 AM. There were 56 members and guests in
attendance. The following occurred:
Guests were welcomed,
new members were introduced, and veterans were recognized.
The CO mentioned the
recent passing of Col. John Misterly. He then invited the veterans in
attendance to recount their military service highlights.
Fred mentioned a couple
finance-related items; dues, Reno, dinner party, calendars, etc.
Fred gave a short recap
of the 2017 Scholarship program.
Dan Shoemaker reported
on this year’s B-17 visit.
Paul mentioned that the
marshallers are looking for recruits.
Dave mentioned Oshkosh
2017 and the availability of squadron housing.
Ron reported that the
issue with the FAA at McChord had been resolved – in our favor.
Our “Know Your Warbirds”
feature was presented by Stan “Sundance” Kasprzyk who talked about
Boeing’s T-X entrance in the competition to replace the T-38.
Our guest
speaker was Merrill Wein legendary Alaskan bush pilot, Air Force pilot,
and Wein Alaska Airline pilot. He spoke for an hour about his father’s and
his early flying career, then autographed copies of his Born to Fly
for some two dozen members.
Dave mentioned he was still looking for speakers
for future meetings.
Ron closed by noting
that the Board would meet after lunch and invited interested folks to
attend.
There being no
further business, the meeting was adjourned at approximately 12:45.
