Cascade Warbirds Squadron # 2, Minutes of the Meeting of the Membership

The CO called the meeting
to order at 10:10 AM. Thirty-six were present.
The following occurred:
the CO welcomed new members and guests
our Veterans were recognized and each gave a brief recap of his service
the FO pitched the Christmas dinner party on 8 December, reminded members to pay 2013 dues, and displayed the 2013 warbird calendar that is for sale
the Safety Officer spoke of the importance of (1) proper tire pressure especially in light of wet runways, and (2) that life vests are an inexpensive safety device and should be worn while flying over water rather than stored in the cockpit
Crash Williams mentioned that NWOC will be returning to Seattle in February and he encouraged all to register and attend.
Dave Desmon (1) reminded all owners to check their aircraft re-registration dates, (2) mentioned that the NWS intends to move the Stampede Pass AWOS to Snoqualmie Pass and is seeking comments, and (3) that the squadron is organizing a movie night; details will be disseminated at a later date
the CO brought us up to date on the situation at EAA IRT the B-17 program and other pertinent changes. At the moment, things are in disarray, though meetings are scheduled to make some decisions.
our EAA Air Venture scholar Alex Wencel spoke to us of his experience at Oshkosh, thanked us for the scholarship, said he begins flight training in January, and plans to make aviation his career.
Ron Morrell, in our Know-Your-Warbird segment, taught us all about the Nanchang CJ-6 aircraft.
the squadron awarded Tony Caruso our Search for Excellence Award, due in large part to all his publicity work over the years for our B-17 tour stop. A procession to his home for the presentation was scheduled for the afternoon.
two door prizes were given away: Lori Greer won a pair of tickets to the Annual Christmas Dinner Party and Shirl Nadeau won a copy of Splendor In The Skies by Maj. Don R. Hayes (USAF Ret), donated to the squadron by the author.
a replica F4U Corsair, donated to the squadron for a raffle by the XO's brother Don Nadeau, was won by Rich Cook; $24 was realized.
the next meeting is scheduled for 12 January 2013.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 12:25 PM.
