The CO called the meeting to order at 10:30 AM. There were approximately 85 in attendance, about half CWB members and half HFF guests. The following occurred: > The CO welcomed everyone and announced the program for the day. The Veterans were recognized for their service. He also read a letter from a recent scholarship recipient and mentioned there are currently seven scholars in our Ground School - Flight program. > The Ops O mentioned the upcoming squadron elections, acknowledged the founders as we celebrate 20 years as a squadron, asked for volunteers for the 2014 EAA B-17 Tour Stop, pitched attendance for both Reno and Oshkosh next year, and listed several squadron aircraft for sale. > Fred reminded all of the Christmas dinner party scheduled for 07 December at the Medallion Hotel. > Host John Sessions commenced our program by describing the background of HFF's Spitfire and answering several questions about its history and capabilities. > Kent Johnson introduced our guest of honor, LTC John S Blythe (Ret) and provided a bio of his WWII exploits. > Col Blythe then described his flight training, early flying in P-38 Lightenings, transition to the Spitfire Mk 11, and photo recon missions over Germany. He next answered questions from the audience for nearly an hour. At the conclusion, we thanked him and accorded him a standing ovation. A model of a Spitfire XII in the colors of Col Blythe's aircraft was presented to him at which point he was very pleased. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 12:30 PM.
