Cascade Warbirds Squadron # 2, Minutes of the Membership Meeting,        10 Oct 2014, Museum of Flight, Seattle

 

The CO called the meeting to order at 10:15 AM.  There were approximately 41 members and guests in attendance.  The following occurred:

 

Ø  Guests and new members were introduced.

Ø  Veterans were recognized.

Ø  Dave gave a recap of the Reno Air Races.

Ø  Fred pitched the annual dinner party to be held 6 December at Smokey Point, said he was taking deposits for Reno box seats, and reminded all that 2015 dues, still only $20, could be paid starting now.

Ø  Dave said the squadron is trying to make a big push to attend Oshkosh in 2015 and that he has a house available for those who wish to participate.

Ø  Guest speaker was Johnny Therrill and he introduced us to the B-45 Tornado and told of his time flying it.

Ø  John Clark presented part 2 of his P-51 history, covering USAAF service from P-51A through the P-51D.

Ø  Ken Hicks briefed us on the Puget Sound Honor Flight program and said the group is looking for volunteers to accompany veterans to DC and also said donations were welcome.

Ø  Ron reported that it looks like EAA’s B-17 will return to the Northwest in 2015 and may even be accompanied on tour by a Ford Tri-Motor.  The dates have yet to be established, though it could be late summer.

Ø  Ron also mentioned some other possible 2015 events that the Board would be discussing.

Ø  Ron invited all who wished to attend the board meeting after lunch.

Ø  Ron also invited all in attendance to join in a no-host lunch in the Wings Café.

 

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 12:20 PM.
