Cascade Warbirds, Minutes of the Meeting       11 Feb 2017, Museum of Flight, Seattle


The XO called the meeting to order at 10:15 AM. There were 51 members and guests in attendance.

Dave welcomed the new members and guests. He mentioned there would be a board meeting after lunch.

Fred asked folks to pay their 2017 dues, mentioned Reno Race tickets were still available, and pitched the Warbird calendars produced by PhotosHappen.com.

Pete introduced 2012 Scholarship winner Kyle Clark who proceeded to tell us of his aviation activities since our award. He has earned his Comm. SMEL, Instrument-Airplane, is nearly complete on his CFI, and is currently flying right seat in a jet. He thanked us profusely for helping him realize his dreams.

Our main event was WWII B-17 Lead Pilot Keith Anderson. He detailed some of his 29 missions over Europe and mentioned how lucky he felt he was to come home safely.

Dave mentioned there’s still some room in the Oshkosh house. He also sent around a sign-up sheet for volunteers for the Aviation Expo at Puyallup on 25/26 Feb.

Ray Carveth, president of AWO Fly-In, brought us up to date on their annual event and invited the squadron to return in 2017.

Michael Kopp presented the KYWB segment about his TBM Avenger. He detailed the history of the model and well as details of his particular airplane. Though a GA pilot for 40 years with no military time, he said owing the TBM was his way of honoring all veterans.

Mike Friend, of EAA 406 at Bremerton, brought us up to date on the planned Aviation Education Center at KPWT. He said the county commissioners are currently considering how enthusiastic to be.

Ops O John mentioned there would be a Formation Clinic again this year, scheduled for the last weekend in June at KPWT.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at approximately 12:40.
